Born as a fish in February 1978, a real water rat. Everything that has to do with water makes me happy. I grew up on the Loosdrechtse Plassen and started racing in the optimist from a very young age, progressed through the Splash and Laser to the Finn and participated in many international and national competitions. After that, manned in the Star and Rainbow for years. When I was 27 I took over the family business and I had to work on the weekends. Our two beautiful girls quickly followed and the competitive sailing was no longer there. In recent years I have sometimes been asked for the Rainbow or step for an event in the Pampus. Besides sailing, I also had an interest in motor boats. After various dinghies, sloops, a barge decker and other cabin boats, I now have a fishing boat for the sea. Something completely different and really getting used to. After purchasing this boat, the idea of Bootmanus started. It could well imagine what it feels like to be insecure and not be behind the wheel or helm with complete confidence. Because of my many years of experience as a competitive sailor, I am familiar with the wind and waves. I would like to convey this calm and familiar feeling to other water sports enthusiasts. Besides teaching on sailing and motor boats, it gives me a very good feeling to unburden boat owners in their possession. Taking over chores and points of attention from the to-do list can be a great pleasure for the owner. Hence Bootmanus! Gr Bastiaan Short
